1953 Alfa Romeo 1900C Sprint Supergioiello by Ghia
This 1953 Alfa Romeo 1900C Sprint is one of what is estimated to be fewer than 20 examples produced with Supergioiello coachwork by Carrozzeria Ghia between 1953 and 1954. Featuring an all-aluminum body, chassis 01531 is said to have been built for display at the 1953 Milan Auto Show before serving as a Ghia show car around Europe. The car was then sold to a French military captain who reportedly used it for racing before retaining ownership into the 1990s. A refurbishment was performed in Milan under subsequent ownership in the early 2000s before the car was purchased by its current owner in 2004 and relocated to the US. Subsequent concours appearances through the 2000s included a class win at the 2008 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance. Finished in cream with golden-yellow accents, the car is powered by a 1,884cc DOHC inline-four that breathes through twin sidedraft Weber carburetors and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional features include finned alloy hydraulic drum brakes, independent front suspension, chrome wire wheels, electronic ignition, black leather upholstery with white piping, a fold-down rear bench seat, and a radio
